Product Attributes Guide

Overview

Product attributes define the characteristics and variations of your products, such as size, color, material, or any custom properties you need to track.

Key Concepts

Attribute Types

Each attribute type represents a category of product characteristics:

  • Size: Small, Medium, Large, XL, etc.
  • Color: Red, Blue, Green, Black, etc.
  • Material: Cotton, Polyester, Silk, etc.
  • Custom: Any other attribute you need

Attribute Values

Values are the specific options within each attribute type. For example:

  • Attribute Type: "Color"
  • Values: "Red", "Blue", "Green"

Important Rules

Warning: Each attribute type can only be used ONCE per product variant.

If you try to add the same attribute type multiple times (e.g., two "Color" selections), you'll see a validation error and won't be able to publish.

How to Use

  1. Create Attribute Types: Define your attribute categories first
  2. Add Attribute Values: Create the specific options for each type
  3. Assign to Products: Select the appropriate attributes when creating product variants
  4. Avoid Duplicates: Make sure each attribute type appears only once per variant

Best Practices

  • Use consistent naming conventions
  • Create attribute types before creating products
  • Keep attribute names clear and descriptive
  • Avoid creating duplicate attribute types with similar names

Need Help?

If you encounter validation errors or have questions about attributes, check that:

  • You haven't selected the same attribute type multiple times
  • All required fields are filled out
  • Attribute values are properly linked to their types
